CARDBOARD BALER CASE STUDY

A brand new H80 horizontal cardboard baler has recently been installed in Lecce, Italy, supplied by LSM’s Italian distributors Ciclia.

The customer, a waste collector, were looking for a way to manage their very large quantities of heavy duty cardboard, which they were having difficulties storing on site.

The waste collector knew that a heavy duty cardboard baler would be the optimal solution, and that if they could bale the waste they could in fact sell the bales and make a profit from them, giving them another revenue stream.

However, they were uniquely challenged by the fact that the baler would need to operate in an area which had no electricity source.

This customer came to Ciclia with their requirements and unique challenge.

Auditing their high volume, heavy duty waste, Ciclia identified that the H80 would be the optimal baler solution. The H80 is a powerful machine that can create super-sized bales (allowing users to pack more material into a container with fewer bales) and therefore would be well capable of handling the type of cardboard waste this collector had on site.

Now that the appropriate machine had been selected, it was time to tackle the fact there would be no electricity source in area the baler would need to work in. The baler would need to be customised – a clever addition of a diesel drive unit would be key to allow the machine to work without electricity. The engineering team were also able to fit the baler with a remote diagnostics access, so service engineers can log in to the machine without being in the same location, to assess baler status, bales completed, machine location, and to diagnose any service issues.

The machine was built in Ireland and once complete, was shipped to Leice in Italy for installation.

This waste collector is now able to very simply bale all of their cardboard waste with just one touch of a button. The lack of power is not an issue thanks to the special customisation LSM were able to put in place.

This cardboard baler not only saves much needed space on site but it has brought them an additional revenue stream, where they are able to sell their super-size bales for profit.
