Cardboard Baler Case Study
- Customer: Vending machine supplier
- Location: Hungary
- V50 waste baler supplied by: LSM Hungary
Customer background:
This customer supplies and manages vending machines for coffee, snacks, and drinks across Hungary.
As a result of the nature of their business, they produce a very high volume of recyclable waste, predominantly cardboard, but paper and plastic foil as well.
The company were having a number of serious challenges with their waste management:
- High waste management fees: Managing their waste was expensive, and costs were increasing as the organisation grew and produced more waste.
- Environmental: The customer was concerned that the recyclable waste they were producing was not being correctly handled and ending up in landfill.
- Unsightly and unsafe warehouse: Cardboard waste was everywhere, which was both unsightly but also a health and safety hazard. Even when tidied, wind and animals would scatter the waste around the site again.
- Inefficient use of staff time: Staff members were spending a long time trying to keep waste managed and tidy, which could be better spent elsewhere.
This vending machine supplier came to LSM Hungary to undertake an audit of their site and their unique challenges, and asked them to present a solution that would overcome these issues.
A powerful baler that turns waste into revenue
It was clear that the vending machine supplier required a powerful baler that was capable of handling high volumes of waste. LSM Hungary were also able to identify that the amount of waste the customer was producing would allow them to participate in a bulk recycling scheme – where bales of recycling produced could be sold on – thus creating another revenue stream for the business.
The V50 waste baler was selected because not only would it have the pressing power they need, it would also allow them to create the optimal size bale for transport and revenue return.
LSM Hungary worked with the customer to install the machine and to train the operators. The operators were especially pleased to learn how simple it was to run the V50. All they needed to do to create a bale was to press one button, and once the baling cycle was completed, the integrated tyre kicker ejected the bale directly onto a pallet – ready to be sold on.
An exceptional outcome
Thanks to the installation of this machine:
- Not only have this customer slashed their high waste management costs, they are now making a profit from their waste by selling the 420-450 kg bales they are regularly producing.

- Their site is now clean, tidy, and safe – in fact the V50 has transformed how their warehouse looks – and very importantly – operates.
